This Privacy Statement explains, amongst other things, what information the ARSINOE Data Catalogue (ADC) collects about the end- user on this website and the use of them. ADC has been created within the context of CLIMATE RESILIENT-REGIONS THROUGH SYSTEMIC SOLUTIONS AND INNOVATIONS (ARSINOE) project aiming to leverage innovation for climate adaptation across a series of key systems – from biodiversity to flooding and sea level rise and from droughts and water scarcity to heatwaves and deforestation.
Creators of ADC respect the main principles for data protection i.e. Personal data should be: obtained and processed fairly and lawfully; held and used only for specified purposes; adequate, relevant and not excessive; accurate and kept up to date; kept only for as long as is necessary; processed according to the law; held securely; held within the European Economic Area.
Data Controller details:Αthena-Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communication and Knowledge Technologies -Athena RC (“ADC creators”, “we” or “us”) is the Data Controller of end-users’ personal data. For any information related to this privacy statement, the end-users are invited to fill in the Contact Us form.
Purpose and legal basis of processing the personal data:ADC collects personal information for providing the end-user with a customized service requested. The legal basis for personal data processing is Art. 6(1)(b) of GDPR – processing for pre-contractual and contractual purposes. ADC may further process anonymous information for statistical and research/scientific purposes. Regarding the latter, creators of ADC can make publicly available statistics and anonymous results at a level of a region or a country for scientific purposes. ADC will never disclose information (location, name, email, results etc.) about a particular request that may make the person or their location identifiable.
Information ADC collects:Personal data: Any personal data relating to the end-user gathered by the ADC in the registration process or during the use of the service will be recorded and only be used in accordance with this statement. If the end-user wishes to explore the tool as an authenticated user, ADC gathers the following personal data that is necessary for the purposes of authentication: username, full name, email address and profile picture (optional).
In case where the end-user wishes to explore ADC as a guest, no personal data is being processed.
Recipients of end-users’ personal data:ADC creators will not transfer end-user’s personal data to any third parties unless they have the end-user’s consent to do so or it is otherwise requested by judicial authorities under the legislation. KBT creators will not use the information provided to sell the end-user anything or to ask for money. ADC creators confirm that access to personal data is restricted to those personnel to whom it is necessary for the performance of their role. All staff who are authorized to access personal data are under an obligation to comply with this policy and any other relevant guidelines or legislation.
How ADC uses cookies:Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a browser on a computer’s hard drive, mobile phone or any other device used to access the internet. ADC uses only cookies that are absolutely necessary for the operation of the website.
Data retention period:ADC retains personal information for as long as the end-user wishes to have an account with ADC.
Rights of Data Subjects:Pursuant to the current legal framework on the protection of personal data, the end-users have the following rights in relation to the personal data processed by ADC creators:
The right to access, correct or update their personal data at any time.
The right to object the use of their personal data.
The right to restrict the use of their personal data.
The right to withdraw the consent at any time without any detriment. Such right produces effects only for the future.
The end-users are entitled to ask the erasure of their personal data.
The end-users have the right to data portability, according to which they can ask to receive their personal data so that they can transfer them to another organization.
In case where the end-users are dissatisfied with how ADC creators process their personal data, they are entitled to submit a complaint before the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (DPA) (www.dpa.gr).
